After going 1-1 in pool play the Mustangs entered Sunday bracket play as the 6th seed. They would take on the #3 seed Tyler Thunder in the first game on Sunday. The Mustangs would get off to a slow start but, would end up turning it on late to take care of the thunder 8-3. In the Semi-Finals the Mustangs would take on the Flower Mound Warriors and just like the first game would fall behind early. In the third inning the boys would break it open and take a 7-3 lead into the bottom of the 4th.  The Warriors would battle back to tie it up 7-7 and force extra innings under california tie breaker rules. Mustangs took the lead back 8-7 just to see it tied up again in the bottom of the 5th 8-8. In the top of the 6th the Mustangs would score 10 times without surrendering an out to take the lead 18-8.  The warriors would battle back and come up short 18-13. The Mustangs faced the Texas Stixx in the championship game and the game would stay close for the first two innings 2-1 but, the Stixx had the fresher legs and would end up beating the Mustangs.

Great job, on a second place finish against the best competition in North Texas.

2009 SUPER SERIES NORTH TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONS
DBAT MUSTANGS 11u white
 
The DBAT Mustangs 11u white team coached by Eric Anderly & Bobby Parks went 7-0 on their way to winning the Super Series North Texas State Championship. 27 teams went in search for the title of State Champs and the Mustangs now own that title. The boys outscored their opponents 81-30 and had 5 complete game pitching performances. Connor Killian, Nick Thornquist, Dakota Strickland, Blaze Beason and Ryan Choate showed their best stuff when they took the mound this weekend while J.C. Aguilar, Zack Shepherd, Mike Josephson, & Will Caldwell supplied the fire power behind them. J.B. Garrett, Brandon Hammontree and Bruer Bass made several key plays both at the plate and in the field to help the Mustangs bring home the hardware. In the championship game the Mustangs faced the Flower Mound Rattlers and fell behind early, but did not give up.  The boys rallied from being down 6-1 to take the lead 7-6. But, the Rattlers did not make it easy - scoring 4 more in the top of the fifth.  This time, the Mustangs would not be denied and poured it on in the bottom of the 5th scoring 9 times to beat the Rattlers 16-10.
 
"The boys really showed what they are capable of when they put their minds to it," said Anderly. "We asked for their best, and that is what they gave us." Congratulations 11u State Champs.
